The Thrill of the Thrift: Volume 2

Consignment shopping is the absolute best. It’s like going shopping in other people’s closets and getting to take home your favorite finds. Like everyone else, sometimes when I’m shopping, I’m looking for something specific (black boots, a cute dress for an event, etc.). But I find the most successful shopping trips happen when I’m not looking for anything in particular.

I found this beautiful piece from Peruvian Connection on that kind of trip. I was just browsing at a downtown consignment shop when it caught my eye. I love unique pieces like this that really make a statement. Not only is it beautiful, but I never have to worry if someone’s wearing the same thing! What I love about this this Andean original is it’s beautiful, unique, complimentary, almost-floral print, and the rich, beautiful plum hue it adorns. The knit fabric is incredibly luxurious; it’s soft, but has just enough structure to flatter the figure and not look disheveled. I also love the chic yet modest neckline - perfect for showing off jewelry, and nothing else (the dress highlights everything flawlessly).

After a quick hem, this gem was ready to go. I wore it to my high school reunion, as pictured, pairing it with simple, silky hair, black chandelier earrings, gold and silver bracelets, a gold iridescent clutch, and black heels. This dress made me look effortlessly chic as I mingled with my former classmates. I’ve worn it many times since then, and it always makes the same unique impression. I’m so glad it’s part of my wardrobe. Another thrifting win!
