Summer Style Edit

Winter has finally thawed, giving way to beautiful blooms and temperate, sunny days. It also leaves us unearthing and assessing last years summer wardrobe. Weeding through what’s a keeper and what needs to be ditched and upgraded - ah, the annual tradition. The trends for this summer seem to be green hues, bandanna and scarf-inspired prints, Bermuda shorts (hello, not having to peel our derrières off of hot seating surfaces!), and fisherman core. As a New Englander, fisherman core has me the most excited, because there’s nothing us New England girls love more than being overtly preppy in the summer and embracing our inner mermaid (hello, chunky gold starfish bracelet). Add cute sneakers, pastels, and a sprinkling of polka dots, and you’ve got yourself a wardrobe that’s fit for the 2025 boardwalk!

One thing I’m noticing while doing my own summer wardrobe refresh is the changes in options offered by TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. I’ve always been a steadfast Maxxinista, but lately, I’m not too impressed with what they have. Now, I should preface this by noting that this is only what I’ve seen in extensive online perusals. I haven’t been in the stores lately, but my fashionista mom has, and wasn’t too impressed there, either. I’m sure they will come around, but it’s been a disappointing realization, especially for a girl who loves a bargain and a unique find.

With that being said, I have found Amazon to have some really cute styles, and am in the process of finding out if their clothes are as cute IRL as they are onscreen. I will report back once my prospecting is complete. And the good news is, Amazon is offering a ton of sales, so you can still shop and feel like you walked a away with a good deal.

Personally, I find myself drawn to the dress and sneaker aesthetic (aside from the fisherman one). I’m on the hunt for cute, feminine summer dresses, some of which are classic in style, and others that embrace the current trends. However, I’m not sure how I feel about Bermuda shorts; being on the shorter side, I’m concerned that they will make my legs look short and throw my proportions off. And I’m not ashamed to admit I’m not ready to let leggings go (not that they’re going anywhere, anyway). I have my eye on some legging shorts that I plan on pairing with graphic tees and classic tank tops for a more casual look, and off the shoulder and peblum styles for when I’m going for a dressier vibe.

Once I get my wardrobe from last year completely assessed, I’ll take a trip to my favorite consignment shop to see what treasures she has. That, coupled with my Amazon finds, (and the existing summer styles from my closet) should put the cherry on top of my summer ensembles. Hopefully this post will give you some inspo on how to revamp yours! Happy beginning of summer, beauties!

Until next time…stay fabulous!
