The '90's Are Calling. Here's how to Answer the Landline

Is it just me or did summer fly by?! Regardless, fall is here, which means it's perfect fashion weather. Ah, who are we kidding, it's always perfect fashion weather! But fall is a particularly special time for us fashion girlies. Temps are cooling, which means we get to throw our favorite pants, jackets ans sweaters into the mix. And for those of us dealing with chronic conditions, the thermometer hasn't dipped enough for our joints to notice yet. But that still begs the question: what should we wear this fall? If you're anything like me, you're vibing, at least on some level, with the '90's fashions that have permeated the trends. And if you're also anything like me, you remember wearing them the first time around. The nostalgia is real. Except this time, we can remix our old faves with the polish and experience we've gained since the last time we put them on. But what if you're struggling with a chronic illness? Have no fear, you can still incorporate '90's fashion without sacrificing comfort. Here's how.

The Slip Dress

The slip dress is a perfect '90's element to add to your outfit rotation. The dress evokes an iconic '90's aestihetic, and is also an ideal selection for those of us with sensitive bodies. It is super comfortable to wear, especially if you get one in an extra soft fabric like silk, or even a really soft cotton blend. It scores pretty close to a zero on the restriction scale. And you can go up a size if you don't want the fit to be super clingy. And for fall, you can add a soft, fitted, long sleeve shirt or basic tee underneath, or top it with a slouchy cardigan or oversized flannel. Add some comfy ballet flats or a trim sneaker, and you've got a body-approved '90's inspired look!

Oversized Flannel

Speaking of oversized flannel, wearing it is a perfect way to enject some '90's vibes into your outfit in a deliciously comfortable way. Grab your favorite graphic or concert tee (or even a tank if it's still warm out), put on your cozy black leggings, and add the oversized flannel over it, and you have the perfect recipe for an effortlessly chic '90's inspired outfit. Personally, I find the best oversized flannels in the men's department. Seriously. They are incredibly comfortable, and you can try on each size to determine how oversized you want to go. I honestly don't think any of the flannel shirts I own are women's wear. And if you thrift one, it will be extra soft and lived in. Or, if your husband or boyfriend has one, you could always borrow it! Either option adds a little something extra in both the fashion and comfort departments. Add your favorite sneaker or black shoe (a boot if you have one that's easy to wear. If not, a black sneaker would split the difference) and you're in business!

Relaxed, Wide Leg Jeans

Nothing evokes '90's style more than wide leg jeans. Getting a pair with a relaxed fit will make wearing them a breeze. Again, if you get them secondhand, the denim will be extra lived-in, making them even easier to wear. Pair them with a soft cotton tee to add comfort while keeping with the minimalist aesthetic. I'd suggest adding a little structure with a duster coat or trench. Slip on a pair of flats or sneakers, and you're good to go!

So there are three chronic illness proof, '90's inspired outfit ideas for fall that are all that and a bag of chips! Hopefully you enjoy wearing them as much as I do! Until next time, stay fabulous!
